1949- Hornby LNER 0-6-2T

The first post-war version of this locomotive was released in late 1947 in limited numbers, but these had the horseshoe magnet, however my locomotive is the variant with the Anlico half inch magnet which was released in the summer of 1949.
After the Second World War the clockwork variant was discontinued and only the electric variant was made. The voltage being 12 volt DC in the UK. The magnet design and the chassis being altered to accommodate it were the main changes, along with the cut out in the lower bufferbeam for the new couplings.
There were no major changes during the Korean War 1950-1953, although there were supply problems. The LNER livery was made until early 1953, then it was replaced by a British Railways livery, that variant will be covered in the future.
Other variants 1947-1953 were GWR, LMS and SR.

Although mine is apple green, the early models were sold in black

A view of the other side, this one is matt finish with geen painted wheels

Front view, very play worn

Note number on bufferbeam in gold

"TYPE EDL 7" stamped in the diecast under the wheel arch. My very early variants, two LMS and the GWR does not have it. But the LNER and another LMS locomotive does have the EDL 7. So it must have been added in the early 1950s. My British Railways locomotives from 1953 have the stamping, but it has been changed to EDL 17.

Top view, the coal bunker stayed empty for many years

View of the centre rail pick-ups

The release of one screw under the firebox door allowed for the removal of the diecast body and easy maintenance

View from the other side, note the pony truck is different from the 1938 variant
