R116 Gondola 1954-1963

The R116 Gondola was another of the early Transcontinental series, first released in 1954. The 1963 date is the last time it was illustrated in the UK catalogue, however, it remained on sale for a couple of years longer. It remained in the Canadian market into the early 1970s where it carried the "Rock Island Lines" livery. A large number of the stock in Canada were returned to the UK in 1980 and were resold as "Zodiac Models" in 1981.

3 colours are known in the UK, green, blue and maroon. (other colours are known in the Dominions). The R116 was also produced in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
