Triang R118 Well Wagon 1955-1967

The Well Wagon was released in mid 1955, beating the Hornby-Dublo Well Wagon by about 4 months into the shops. In late 1956 wagon loads were added, R213 was a crane load, followed by R241 in 1960, which was a tank load. For these loads four pins were added so that the load could be fixed down by rubber bands. The tooling was later used for Transcontinental (by simply removing the buffers) and Battle Space ranges.

Mid 1955 R118 Well Wagon. The running number is larger (13mm) and no load pegs have been fitted. These two wagons were produced in the first 12 months of production.

Late 1956 R118 Well Wagon. Running number slightly smaller and the top model clearly shows the load pegs mounted along the edge. The dark blue model also has cropped axles, all the others have rounded axle ends.
