Graham Farish and British Trix

1948-1960

Although I collect Triang and early Hornby, sometimes I purchase a job-lot and there is often one or two Graham Farish or British Trix wagons in the mix. All the ones illustrated here were found in a biscuit tin and sold for one pound each in a Cornwall market house.

Some are battered and will need re-painting, I have decided to show them in the state they were in when purchased. As I purchase any more in the future, I will add them here.

Firstly, a few British Trix  wagons, some have new wheels fitted and three wagons in the biscuit tin have no wheels at all, I assume the person doing the conversions lost interest or perhaps passed-away before the project was completed? One has been converted to duel coupling types as a "Converter Wagon".

1948-

Early British Trix guards wagon.

Playworn to say the least. Not a wagon that I would likely run on my layout,

It will probably end up in my glass showcase, where I have a lot of vintage

items which illustrate the history of OO model railways.

TRIX MINERAL WAGON

A plastic wagon from the 1950s, probably also available without chassis.

RIGHT: Still covered in dust and how they were found in the biscuit tin,

we see two types of chassis. The left chassis with D-type 1959 Triang couplings

has been converted with one Playcraft coupling. The righthand chassis is earlier

and much more basic. They all need a good scrub later.

TRIX 3 PLANK WAGON

Probably grey plastic when sold.

Lovely Trix Private Owners Wagon

Graham Farish Open Wagons

7 Plank Wagon, note handbrake on the wagon side, nice touch.

Another 7 Plank Wagon, note  axle boxes ( in the 1950s many models had unrealistic open axle boxes )
