1948- Hornby Dublo LMS Coronation Class "Duchess of Atholl"

The Hornby Dublo "Duchess of Atholl" locomotive was designed on paper in 1939 and was due to be produced in February 1940, but the war stopped all toy production and none were made before 1948. Production was held up in 1947 as the model was re-designed to have a double chimney, in line with the real prototype. Mine has the half inch magnet and EDL2 stamped under the cab roof, dating my example as from summer 1949.

A close up of some of the detail, it should also be mentioned that due to a design fault in the model, the wheels do not line up with the wheel arches!
