In 1953 the A4 livery changed from blue to green with the addition of "Silver King" to the range, in line with the other existing models, it was now in British Railways green livery.

The Silver King was the least famous member of the top four A4`s in service, this being the relief locomotive. However, this being 1953, it was the perfect choice of name. The much beloved king had  passed away the year before, so Silver King was a nod to King George VI who was still fresh in peoples thoughts.

This is the matt version, which was in a train-set box. The gloss variant which is below, was purchased as a solo model.

As well as the new livery, the chassis wheels are now painted black, previously they had been red.

The gloss variant, play worn. The later matt variant has spent most of its life in its box and is in mint condition.

Difficult to say which one I like best, probably the matt variant looks the most realistic.
